Down to the south of Phu Quoc for two modern marvels of the Vietnamese tourism industry.
We even met a virtual local
The world's longest cable car ride - 7.7 km over the ocean and islands to reach Non Thom island. It's clearly an engineering marvel and the 15 minute journey is quite breathtaking, especially with the beautiful fishing boats and natural scenes below.
The cable car ride was the closest I will ever get to parasailing and significantly cheaper.
Once on the island the main attraction is the Aqua Park. Brand new and at least as good as any Australian water theme park.
Elijah enjoyed the fast pace single person rides and we both went in the floating tubes and the wave pool. He would have loved it with his friends and I wished I could have gone on the fast rides with him.
We enjoyed roast duck and Vietnamese pancake for lunch on the island and then returned on the cable car.
Now the second tourism marvel - Sunset Town.
Amalfi coast comes to Vietnam. Built from scratch, complete with beautiful buildings, and roman fountains and statues.
The only thing it seemed to be lacking was people. From what we could tell no one was actually staying there and we didn't pass any shops. They were just a few empty cafes. You build it and they will come? Time will tell.
Took us a while to find them in thee extreme heat, but we did enjoy our cable car shaped ice creams when we found them.
Back to our resort and we both had a run along the beach and then a swim together in the ocean. My first time watching the sunset from in the water. Very special.
